He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Thomas and Jessie Thomas (Hoag); his wife Jane; his stepsons, Mark and Patrick; and his brother Rod.
He is survived by: his stepsons, Jack D. Smith, Jr. (Gloria Smith) and Geoffrey Smith; and his grandchildren, Heather Jane, Brannon Neil, Joshua, Meghan, Konatsu, Akito, David, James, Dessimber, Silas, Evelyn and Theodore.
