He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Hoffman and Marilyn Hoffman (Howk); his siblings, Jeff Hoffman and Mary Lou Hoffman; and his pet MuMu.
He is survived by: his wife Kristen Hoffman (Schacht); his children, Melanie Juarez (Sergio) and Peter Jr. (PJ); his stepdaughter Stephanie Shakespeare; his sisters, Karen Viggiano (Rich) and Ginny Kotok (Matt); his sister-in-law Marge Hoffman (late Jeff Hoffman); and his grandsons, Sergio Jr. and Roman Juarez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Pete's memory to the American Heart Association (heart.org), the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org), or Pittsburgh Pirates Charities (pirates.com).
