He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Chiles and Ruth Adams Chiles; and his brothers, Nathan Bernard Chiles, Phillip Enslowe Chiles, Sr., Thomas Leon Chiles and Stephen Winthrop Chiles.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret McNamara Chiles (Maggie); his daughters, Cheryl Laster (Ben) and Felecia Williams (George); his brother Robert Chiles; his siblings-in-law, Shirley W. Chiles, Ann McNamara, Joe McNamara and Jim McNamara; his grandchildren, Jalen Smith, Isaiah Smith, Tia Laster, Isaiah Laster, Brandon Williams and Jasmine Williams; and his nieces and nephews, Keyna Chiles, Andrea Chiles, Reginald Chiles, Robert Chiles, Jr., Lamar Chiles, Quintin Chiles, Phillip Chiles, Jr., Neal McNamara and Dan McNamara. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
