He was predeceased by: his parents, John Raymond and Elizabeth Simmons (Loucks); his son John Simmons (Lee); and his siblings, Noble Simmons (Leila), Fern Baty, Darrell Simmons (Claire), Madge Dilliner (Randall), Jesse Simmons (Erma), Ida Belle Greenwood (Ralph), Dorothy Brooks and Bob Simmons (Betty).
He is survived by: his wife Helen B. Simmons (Cockrum); his children, William Simmons, Jr. (Judith), Frances Winiarczyk (Ron) of Clermont, Florida and Jayne Ann Atherton (Dave) of Clermont, Florida; and his grandchildren, William Simmons III (Mariclair), Michael Simmons (Gwynne), Amy Murray (J. P.), Melissa Gilliam (Brian), Karissa Sweeney (Duane), Holly Duffey, Lisa Ruedemann, Dennis Simmons, Matthew Atherton (Elisabeth) and Jake Atherton (Erica). He is also survived by 28 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews, family members, friends and the friends.
