Joan Bost Diogo Obituary
Joan Bost Diogo, 82, was called home to her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2008. Born in 1926, in the small country town of Midland, NC, she was the oldest of five children. Shortly after graduation, while working at the Officer's Club at the Charlotte Army Air Field, she met and married her husband of 65 years, Army Air Corp pilot, Michael S. Diogo, Jr.
She was a homemaker, 4-H leader, accomplished artist, and herbal company manager. She taught thousands of art students from Cocoa, Florida to Amherst, Virginia. Many of her paintings were donated for raffles to public organizations, fire stations, police agencies, and children's health agencies. She did commission paintings, attended craft festivals, and had exhibits in various banks and office buildings throughout Florida and middle Virginia.
She was a member of St Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa, FL and Amherst Church of God in Amherst, VA. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend. She loved God and nature. She had a free spirit and loved life. She had five children. Michael S (Nanette) Diogo, III in Baja California, Mexico; Angel D (Ben) Keller, Merritt Island, FL, Debbie Diogo Edwards, deceased, Donna T Diogo, Nashville, TN, Carolyn D Neighbors, Atlanta, GA; sisters, Patti Black, Southern Pines NC and Peggy Bonanno, Charlotte NC; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
While she will be greatly missed here on earth, the Angels will be singing Hallelujah!! She will be buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, where her husband will join her. The family would like to thank the wonderful employees of Vitas Hospice for their constant love, support, and dedication to our mother and family for the last year and a half.
Funeral Information A memorial service will be held at 4pm in Merritt Island, FL on October 17, 2008 at Georgianna United Methodist Church.
