He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cox and Pearl Cox; and his siblings, Walter, Robert, Wilford, Louise Howell, Mae Prevatt and Nancy Chavous.

He is survived by: his wife Lula Cox; his children, Allen Cox (Nancy), Rita King, Steve Cox (Patty), John Cox (Linda), Michelle Golden, Cindy Ford (Jim) and Wally Douglass (Lucille); and his brothers, Lewis Cox (Betty) and Howard Cox (Barbara). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
