He was predeceased by: his parents, George Francis Viertel and Mildred Emma Viertel; his children, Randy, Cindy, Candy, Patrick Viertel, Richard Meier and Roxanne Hall; and his brothers, Mark and Kemp Gaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Viertel; his children, Rusty Wright and Pam Brooks; his brothers, Tadd Gaffer and Deon Gaffer; his brother-in-law Joseph Sprinkle (Billie Joyce); his sister Joan Mueller (Stephen); and his sisters-in-law, Betty Dietle and Sharon Alexander. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and dear friends.
