He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Clarence (Dorothy Watson Mathis) and Master Sergeant Mathis; and his stepdaughter Beth Keel. He is survived by : his wife Debra P. Mathis of Crestview, FL; his daughter Tracie Mathis of Norco, LA; his sister Wanell McCoy of Oxford, MS; his stepsons, Seth Gabriel of Williamston, NC and James Keel of Water Valley, MS; and his grandchildren, Caleb Gabriel, Molly Claire Carr and Richie Keel. He is also survived by his many, many friends.
