He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard McClellan Grimm and Mary Hampton Grimm; his brother William H. Grimm; and his stepgrandson Joseph D. Thomas Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Grimm; his stepsons, Darrell F. Thomas and Joseph D. Thomas Sr.; his daughter Tracey M. Mylin (David); and his siblings-in-law, John Faircloth, Alvin Faircloth (Lynn), Roberta Grimm (Bobbi) and Ann Glass.
Wade was featured in The Military Engineer (October 1984) and recognized in Air Force Engineering and Services Quarterly for his innovative contributions to fire protection, including the creation of a specialized firefighting undergarment that improved safety for countless personnel.
