He was predeceased by: his parents, Deacon Frank Smith and Bishop Ethel B. Smith; his sisters, Diane and Jamie Smith; and his son Ahmed Hicks.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Smith; his children, Charlie Smith, Jr., Lenwood Smith, Shenita Smith (Kenyon), Sherry Smith (Andrew), Jamar Hicks and Kimberly Smith; his sibling Bishop Frank Smith, Jr. (Fredricka); his siblings-in-law, Frances Hughes, Clara Hicks, Princess Stokes, Anniebell McCray, Loraine Butts, Hercules Hicks (Bridget), Carlton Hicks, Lamar Hicks (Ollie Mae), Eugene Hicks, James Harris, Leroy Harris, Daniel Hicks, Charles McCary, Harry T. Hicks and Granville Harris (Ethel); and his close friends, Jacob Pugh and Nathaniel Graham. He is also survived by 60 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other sorrowing relatives, and dear friends.
