He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Steen. He is survived by: his close friend Tom "The Sheik" Abdelnour; his wife Kathy Collins Steen; his children, Rusty Steen (Chi) and Katie Steen Phillips (Andrew); his grandchildren, Wiley and Lucy; his siblings, Janet and Don (Robin); and his in-laws, Claudia, Cindy (Mike), Jim (Nancy), Janey and Tim. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:30 AM at 238 N Clara Ave, DeLand, FL 32720.

He became a certified master naturalist and was passionate about donating and planting Coontie around town, including at Spec Martin Stadium.
