She was predeceased by: her father Marvin Blair Stuart Sr.; her husband Alvin Heggem; and her brothers, Marvin "Butch" Stuart Jr. and David E "Stickweed" Stuart. She is survived by: her mother Loretta Smith Stuart of Pikeville, Kentucky; her sons, Brian Heggem (Jill) of DeLand, Timothy James Heggem (Angelique) of Tokyo and Jerry Dwayne Heggem (Michelle) of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Brian Heggem Jr., Garrett Jaxon Heggem (Niki) and Keanu Heggem; her great grandchild Violet Elaine Heggem; and her siblings, Jerry Stuart (Anita) of Williamson and Lora Stuart Shortt of Columbia.
A memorial gathering was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home (548 N Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Veronica's honor to the local animal rescue, humane society, or a local church to honor of Veronica's love for animals and that she never once turned away a stray.
