He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Sr. O'Connell and Mary O'Connell; and his brother John O'Connell. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Thompson; his children, Christy (Philip Hahm) and Daniel J. III; his granddaughter Hannah Hahm; and his siblings, Margaret (late Arthur Tuma), Maureen (Donny Walker), Eileen (Tony Unitas), Cathy (Paul Duke) and Patrick.

A burial was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at the Green Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Divine Savior Church (15935 Lyons Rd, Delray Beach, FL 33446). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
