Lynn S Jackson Obituary

Lynn Silverstein Jackson, age 66, passed away peacefully July 14 in Niceville, FL after a courageous, well-fought battle with Huntington's disease.

Lynn is survived by her devoted husband and love of her life of 34 years Larry Jackson III, her sister Mary Silverstein (Sarasota, FL), her brother Louis Silverstein (Augusta GA), her father Bernard Silverstein (Augusta Ga), nephews Bernie Silverstein (Atlanta, GA) and Sam Silverstein (Air Force), her stepson Larry Jackson (and wife Jennifer) of Panama City Beach, FL. Lynn's mother Robin Silverstein passed away in 2012.

Lynn grew up in Augusta GA, attended Westside High School, graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA in Marketing, and received an MBA in Marketing from Emory University.

Lynn's 3rd date with Larry was a fishing date in Ft Lauderdale where Larry lived and owned a boat. We had a boat and water skied growing up, but Lynn had never fished a day in her life. If I had been asked, I would have bet money Lynn never would have even tried fishing. But I think this was the first sign of how much she liked Larry. On this fishing date, Lynn managed to catch a sailfish 86 inches high (for some perspective, Lynn was all of 62 inches tall). It was such a huge accomplishment for a first-timer that Larry had a taxidermist prepare it and they boldly displayed the sailfish with an angler plaque in the living room of every home they lived in. Lynn caught much more than a fish that day. Lynn caught the love at first site, love of her life Larry Jackson III, who was the most loving, kind, caring, supportive, devoted husband in the world. While Larry didn't catch a fish that day, he also caught the love at first site, love of his life, Lynn Silverstein. Thank you so much Larry for making my sister the happiest woman in the world for 34 years, and for taking such good care of her every waking moment since she became ill.

Lynn had a successful marketing career in Atlanta, holding management and consulting positions for Siemens and Toto. After moving to Destin, Lynn and Larry opened and ran a cheesecake business and Lynn ran an online sales business named Treasure Chest.

Lynn was a devoted wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend to so many. She loved boating, fishing, water and snow skiing, walking, movies, and traveling. Even after she was diagnosed with Huntington's, she remained positive and hopeful and was very involved with drug trials at the University of Alabama to not only help find a cure for herself but help in the groundbreaking research for others. Even though Lynn was ill, she continued to ask how others were doing rather than ever focus on herself.

Lynn was the most selfless, brave, positive, friendly, caring, and loving person to anyone blessed and lucky enough to know her. She remained active in her Jewish faith and beliefs and was frequently spending her time keeping in touch with family, relatives, and friends. Everyone who met Lynn loved her sweet and upbeat personality. Lynn was truly a special individual and will be missed by so many.

A private ceremony for family was held July 16 at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

Donations can be made in honor and memory of Lynn to support Huntington's Disease Research at University of Alabama.

Checks can be mailed to UAB Gift Records, AB 1230, 1720 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL, 35294.
