He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Burness and Charles Burness; and his parents-in-law, Michael Durso and Katherine Durso. He is survived by: his wife Susan Durso Burness; his daughters, Megan Bennett (Greg), Kylie Lynn (Remy) and Mackenzie Burness (Ryan Ludwig); his granddaughters, Claire Bennett and Adira Lynn; his brothers, Jeffrey Burness (Constance) and Thomas Burness (Dawn); his sister-in-law Michelle Spinella (Jim); and his nieces, Rachel Spinella, Nicole Spinella and Justine Burness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Dublin A.M Rotary Charitable Foundation (https://columbusfdn.fcsuite.com) and the Intensive Care Nursery at the Pennsylvania Hospital.
