He was predeceased by: his parents, Demetrio Carmello and Bridget Murphy Cardea; and his child Carmen (late Laurie-Jo). He is survived by: his siblings, Marie, Nick, Charlie, Nancy and Ella; his children, Thomas Michael (Polly), Paul Vincent, Michele Lee Mozingo, Christopher and Kevin Richard (Victoria); his grandchildren, Erin Cardea, Thomas Cardea (Kelly), Cloe Mozingo, Emily Mozingo Taylor (Johnathan), Kevin Cardea Jr., Nicole Cardea and Alison Cardea; his great grandchildren, Finn Cardea and Emery Cardea; Catherine Eick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sierra Club or to Doctors Without Borders.
