With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Billy Joe Thornton of Fernandina Beach, Florida, who passed away on October 19, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his siblings, Shirley Jean Woodard and Kenneth Daniel Thornton. He is survived by: his children, Laura Hickox of Callahan, Matthew Thornton of Fernandina Beach and Madison Thornton of Jacksonville; his mother Lois Thornton of Fernandina Beach; his siblings, John Thornton (Deborah) of Yulee and Marie Winkler of Fernandina Beach; his sister-in-law Renee Thornton of Fernandina Beach; his granddaughters, Stella and Shelby; Billy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oxley Heard Funeral home to help cover funeral expenses.
