He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilton Henry Wilkes and Inez Boyd Wilkes; his wife Rossie; and his siblings, Henry, Mamie Lou Coleman and Tennie Lou Coleman.
He is survived by: his children, Rick (Sheryl), Preston (Lucy) of North Carolina and Frances Fernandina Beach (Ralph). He is also survived by 6 granddaughters who were his heart, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and many good friends.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital and Warner Community Hospice.
