We are sad to announce that, on May 8, 2021, at the age of 86, Shirley Verdier (Fernandina Beach, Florida) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lather Colson and Mary Colson; her friend Lawrence L. Verdier, Jr.; her husband Lawrence Verdier, Jr.; her siblings, Nathaniel Colson, Henry Colson, Purcell Colson, Estelle Williams, Rosa Lee Bryant, Dora Bell Blue and Mary Blue; and her son-in-law Shundell Lang.

She is survived by: her children, Karen Verdier (Bella) of San Antonio, TX, Kevin Verdier of Macon, GA and Katrina Verdier-Lang of Cocoa, FL; her grandchildren, Sheratyn, Shayla Phillips of San Antonio, TX, Aaron Wynn of Osan, Kirsten, Devin Verdier of Warner Robbins, GA, Aaliyah Payne of Atlanta, GA, Justin, Morgan and Taylor Verdier of Macon, GA; and her godchildren, Marva Murray Ard, Leonard Murray, Pam Murray Moore, Geraldine Boatwright and Beverly Smith of Rockledge, FL.

“In loving memory of Shirley Verdier, May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. I met Shirley for the first time during my freshman year and her senior at Florida A and M University. She was a beautiful young women and a great role model to me and other young women at the university. We met again when she and her family moved to Cocoa and purchased a home around the corner from me in Catalina. I loved Shirley and stayed in touch even after I moved away.. RIP my friend.”
