She was predeceased by: her parents, Fredrick Speets and Nell Speets (Ringers); her former husband Edward VanderHey; her brother Fred; and her grandson Eric James Haskins.
She is survived by: her husband Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.; her children, Linda Haskins (Brian), Karyn VanderHey (Pete Richardson), James Edward VanderHey (Donna), Sally Martin (Brooks) and Dr Nancy Samaha (Christopher); her grandchildren, Shawn Haskins (Karen), Tom Wimer (Erin), Paul Smithwood (Madison), Kevin Smithwood (Olivia), Zachary Smithwood, Tyler Martin, Mitchell Martin (Megan), Derek Martin, Matthew Samaha (Brooke) and Jillian Samaha; her great grandchildren, Leah, Riley and Brian Haskins; and her grandchildren, Declan, Molly Wimer, Bexley and Grant Smithwood.
