He was predeceased by: his parents, Harlan Rex and Neva Dean Prater (Brewer); his grandson Chase Douglas Dirks; his brothers, Russell and Harlan Prater (Sid); and his stepmother Charlotte Prater (Puett).
He is survived by: his wife Joyce (Crippin); his children, Dean Prater (Kirstyn) of Phoenix, AZ and Tiffonie Dirks (Carl) of Prairie Village, KS; his stepchildren, Jessica Teter (Brandon) of Fayette, MO and Lee Haney (Lori) of Sedalia, MO; his grandchildren, Mason and Emily Prater; and his stepchildren, Jake, Lillian Dirks, Olivia Smith and Miles Haney. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; numerous other family and friends.
