He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Burton Gilstad and Ida Gilstad (Christenson); his son Benjamin Gilstad of Chicago, IL; his brother Terry Gilstad (Franny) of Kawkawlin, MI; his sister-in-law Peggy Gilstad (late Thomas Gilstad) of Midland, MI; and his sibling's children, Chad Gilstad (Amy), Chris Gilstad, Kyle Gilstad (Katie), Ty Gilstad (Ashley), Tony Hamann (Tiffany), Heather Gilstad and Marcy Corbat (Casey).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), honoring Richard's deep love for animals.
