She is survived by: her sister Marilyn Buist of Charleston; her husband James Hunter Mitchell; her children, Catharine Stanley of Asheville, Lynn Mitchell of Black Mountain, James Mitchell, Jr. of Black Mountain and Carter Mitchell, Sr. (Jodee) of Riceville; her grandchildren, Alyson Vitt (Jamie), Carter Mitchell, Jr., Alex Mitchell (Alexandra), Mac Stanley (Caroline) and Jake Stanley; and her great grandchildren, Frances and Carter Vitt.
