We are sad to announce that on September 13, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Ernest Oliver Hebson Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, born in Sylacauga, Alabama. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Sr. Hebson and Dura McClure Hebson; his brother Ronald; and his grandson Andrew. He is survived by: his wife Anne Reed; his sons, Trey (Roxanna) and Reed (Amy); his grandchildren, Elena, Grace, Eliza, Katherine, Joshua and Jeremy; his sister Jan Elliott (Tom); and his siblings-in-law, Lee Reed (Clela), Rosalind Rust and Roebuck Reed. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Walton Beach High School Viking Band. Donations can be sent to: Fort Walton Beach High School, C/O Viking Band/Sandra Oldenburg, 400 Hollywood Blvd SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, *Checks can be written to FWBHS Band with a note "In honor of Ernest Hebson" in memo line.

“This is a late message I know, but I have dreaded ever having to write it. "Mr. Hebson" as he was to me since I first met him in 1961 in Gordo, Al where he became my high school band director. His career was a superb example of a dedicated teacher and leader in guiding young people in the right way to be successful in life. His guidance for me never failed to help me succeed, and I know he did the same for hundreds of others in his life. I shall always keep him in my memory. David White”
