Mary Murtha Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Murtha of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, born in Iowa City, Iowa, who passed away on August 7, 2020 at the age of 82. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Murtha to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles E. Blount and Veronica M. Blount (Phillips); her husband Colonel James R. Murtha; her siblings, Charlene Chap (Charles), Richard Blount and Donald Blount; and her nephew Austin Blount.

She is survived by: her children, James C. (Ann) of Milwaukee, WI, Michael P. (Paula) of Tacoma, WA, Christopher J. (Joli) of Atlanta, GA and Maria K. Murtha-Endris (Greg) of Tacoma, WA; and her siblings, Dolores Thomann (Richard), Thelma Rife (John), Charles Blount, Michael Blount (Laurel) and Adaline Blount. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nephews, nieces, in-laws, and dear friends.

Her death followed a courageous battle with an undiagnosed neurological autoimmune condition whose treatment was complicated by the constraints and conditions imposed because of coronavirus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's School, Fort Walton Beach; St. John the Evangelist Catholic School Pensacola; or to a shelter or food pantry of your choosing.
