He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hare and Sarah Hare; his wife Mary Fayla; his siblings, Ila Caswell, Johnnie McCormick and Willie Hare; and his pets, Amy and Joy.
He is survived by: his children, Dianne Simmons (Wayne) and Dale Hare; his stepdaughters, Ann Caudill (Lloyd) and Minerva Reddick; his grandchildren, Allen Wayne Mitchell and Shanna Munselle; his great grandchildren, Jennifer Lockwood, Emily Simmons and Wayne Mitchell; and his sister Willie Mae McCormick.
