He was predeceased by : his parents, Aubrey Brewer and Gerda Brewer; and his brother Geary Brewer. He is survived by : his close friend Donnie Blanton; his wife Joan; his daughter Melissa (Joe); his grandson Rhett Banks; his sister Rebecca Thompson; his nephews, Matthew and Robert Thompson; his sister-in-law Sheila Jones (Dwayne); his nieces, Kristin Troxel and Kylie Lamb (Ryan); and his great-nieces, Ansley, Palin, Kadence and Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made for Rhett's college fund.
