It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernell Singleton of Gainesville, Florida, who passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ike Young-Williams and Malvina Young-Williams; her husband Alphonso Singleton; her children, Joan "Alene" Cox Nattiel and Alfonso Singleton; her grandson Rodriquez Nattiel; and her son-in-law Albert J. Spencer.

She is survived by: her caregiver Venitra S. Newton; her daughter Annese S. Spencer; her grandchildren, Vernnese S. Leger, Andre L. Spencer (Jeanne Leffler), Dwayne Cox (Melanie), Lolita Singleton, Ava S. Hughes (Jerome), Greg Singleton (Lana) and Otis Nattiel (Alicia); her adoptive daughters, Veronica Mitchell and Vakya McDougle (Timothy); her brothers, Jimmy Williams (Felicia) and Herman Williams (Barbara); and her son-in-law F. W. Newton Jr..
