He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Claude Stokes and Vera Stokes; his sister Pamela Stokes Morrin; his daughters, Tracey Erin Stokes (Erik Gagnon) and Barbie Stokes Timpson (Chris Timpson); and his granddaughter Charlotte Amelia Timpson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Volunteer Fund at the VA, https://www.volunteer.va.gov.
