He was predeceased by : his spouses, Carolyn Desmarais (McConnell) and Claire Morin (Tavares); his parents, Ovila Desmarais and Rosanna Desmarais (Gagnon); his siblings, Maurice, Gerard (Pete), Bertrand, Wilfred, Normand, Paul Desmarais and Loretta Coulombe-Lamoureux; and his stepson Wallace "Gary" Earle (Sharon Tallman).

He is survived by : his children, Thomas L. Desmarais and Linda G. Desmarais; and his stepchildren, Martha Susan Pereira, Marilyn Sondra Richards and Frederick Wyatt Earle. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
