He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Lagares and Barbara Lagares; his brother Frank Lagares Jr.; and his sister-in-law Vicky. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Lagares; his sons, Dennis Lagares Jr. (Jennifer), David Lagares (Kody), Dan Lagares (Leah) and Wesley Keesler (Alyce); his grandchildren, Kyle, Nicole, Trent, Peyton, Trenton, Carson, Brecken, Blakely, Gabby, Annabelle and Charlotte; and his aunt Vickie Bryant (Dave). He is also survived by one niece and five nephews.
