He was predeceased by: his parents, Mario Zarate and Consuelo Garza. He is survived by: his wife Alma Martinez Zarate; and his children, Nora Zarate, Veronica Zarate, Mario Zarate and Hector Zarate Jr.. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
