He was predeceased by: his father Dr. Thomas Burrell. He is survived by: his mother Sheila Burrell; his sister Heather Rodney; his children, Caden and Kaya Burrell; and his sibling's children, Laura Lamprecht (Randell) and Langston VanRooy.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that donations be made to any reputable Veterans program in David's name.
