David will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor David by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though David is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. David’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Whitlock Van Vliet and Clifford Hemphill Jr.; and his wife Ann Stewart. He is survived by: his sons, David Matthew Hemphill (Julie Blackson Hemphill) of Jacksonville and James Tripp Hemphill (Elizabeth Beeley Hemphill) of Oxfordshire, England; his grandchildren, Stewart Whitlock Hemphill, Brenna Marie Dupries and Reid Garrett Dupries; and his siblings, Mary Anne Hemphill of New Jersey and Van Vliet Hemphill of North Carolina.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church (4129 Oxford Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32210).
