He was predeceased by: his son David Michael Schmidt Jr.; his parents, Henry Schmidt (Hank) and Dorothy Jane Sullivan Schmidt; and his brother Thomas James Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Gaye Richardson Schmidt; and his siblings, Nancy May, Joanne Nose, Marilyn Lanier (Bob), Patti Little (Ernest) and Donald Schmidt (Susie). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home (7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Memorial Park (7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205). A committal service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location.
