He was predeceased by: his parents, Donavan Whalen and Irene Whalen (Dawn); his son Donavan III; and his stepson Frank Eddy. He is survived by: his sister Kathleen Lukas; his daughter Valerie Matkaitis; his stepdaughters, Carrie Shea Spindler (John) and Darcy Eddy; his grandchildren, Amber Rivera (Louis), Daniel Matkaitis and Grace Natsis; and his niece Rebecca Lukas. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
