He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Grant Sr. and Eugenia Baltezgar Grant; and his sister Deborah Lyn Grant. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Petteway Grant; his siblings, Sandra Murdock Grant and James Robert Grant Jr.; his daughters, Amanda Grant, Laila Akhavansafa and Lana Meredith; and his grandsons, Ashton Anderson, Kingston Anderson and Chase Meredith.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
