With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of GySgt Tayvon Peterkins (Jacksonville, Florida), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 15, 2025 at the age of 43. He was predeceased by: his father Malachi Peterkins; his grandparents, Alston Gunter Sr. and Gertha Scott; his mother-in-law Debbie Gilchrest; his brother-in-law Thomas Leo Gilchrist; and his father-in-law Thomas Leo Brown.
He is survived by: his mother Fannie P. Scott; his wife Alice L. Peterkins; his children, Demetrea Hunt, Jayla Hunt and Elijah Peterkins; his son-in-law Armani Deon Cade; his grandsons, Massiah Thomas Peterkins and Armani Malachi Cade; his siblings, Phillip Peterkins (Valeria), Phyllis Peterkins, Joan Hightower and Phillisteen Peterkins; his uncles, Joe Scott, Arthur Scott, Harris Scott and Alston Gunter; his siblings' children, Dois Reed, Dion Hightower, Brianna Peterkins, Jasmine Peterkins and Denise Stephens; and his cousins, Justin Scott and Lauren Scott. He is also survived by his son's football games, and a loving grandfather.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, November 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Frazier Family Funeral Services (2214 Dunn Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32218). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Cecil Field Historic Chapel (6112 POW-MIA Memorial Pkwy, Jacksonville, FL 32221). A burial was held on Friday, November 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218).
