He was predeceased by: his sister Ann Stephens Ayres; and his parents, John Luther Stephens, Sr. and Frances Difford Stephens. He is survived by: his wife Helen Chatfield Stephens; his children, Brian (Linda) of Centerville, John (Debbie) of Iron Station and Rebecca Duncan (Charles) of Cary; his grandchildren, Kathy Herr, Tim Stephens (Becky Schell), Bob Stephens (Kelly), Karen Eberly (Eric) and Graham Duncan; and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hunter, Samantha, Madison, Graham, Bennett, Johnathan, Theo and Elliot.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Penney Memorial Church (4465 Poling Blvd, Green Cove Springs, FL 32079).
