We announce the death of John Michael Stokes of Jacksonville, Florida, born in Decatur, Tennessee, who passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 58. He was predeceased by: his wife Wendy Stokes; and his father John R. Stokes. He is survived by: his mother Phyllis Stokes of Chattanooga, TN; his children, Brianna Stokes (Steve) of Greenville, NY and Shawn Barker (Shana); his grandchildren, Skylar of St. Augustine, FL, Keylin of St. Augustine, FL, Atlan of St. Augustine, FL and Freya of St. Augustine, FL; his sisters, Teresa Stokes of Decatur, TN and Joy Stokes Mckenzie (Jamey) of Decatur, TN; his nephew Corey Stokes; his niece Nina Stokes of Decatur, TN; his great-nephews, Maddux, Maverick and Gibson; and his great-niece Malia.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Decatur Cemetery.
