He was predeceased by: his parents, Fugate Gillespie and Ruby Gillespie; and his siblings, Kermit Gillespie, Joann and Janet.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Gillespie; his children, Lakeland "Billy" Gillespie (Dawn), Bonnie "Sissy" (Dwight) and Susan (Gary); his grandchildren, Lakeland Jr. (Kimberly), Melissa (Sarath), Sarah, Colton, Bryce (Danielle), Austin and Haley; and his great grandchildren, Justin, Nikolas, Ryan and Levi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lakeland's memory to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
