Though Nelda may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Nelda touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Nella V. Whiteley and Olyn Whiteley. She is survived by: her daughters, Tina Sanders (Toby), Beverly Potts and Jackie Stratton (James); and her sisters, Tina Gordon (Eddie), Jane Mercer (Mike), Dorenda Nuncio and Kate Gilcrease. She is also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the West Jacksonville Baptist Church (5634 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205). A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
