He was predeceased by : his parents, Carlos Ruiz and Zebarra Lawson. He is survived by : his wife Brenda; his daughters, Shalondra Suto (Joseph) of Schofield Barracks, HI, Khalia Ruiz of Brooklyn, NY, Jamilah Hackman (Antoine) of Sunrise, FL and Briana Ruiz of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Kalil, Alana, Khloe, Aubrey, Damien and Kenzo; his aunt Ramona Lawson; and his cousins, Bryan Lawson and Victor Foreman.
