Franklin William Hunt wrote a sympathy message

“Rest in peace shipmate. Steve and I spent the summer of 1996 together, as United States Navy Chief Petty Officers Selectees. I remember the day we found out we were selected. we were in andros island bahamas, leading a detachment of H-3 maintenance mechanics. we were awakened by our then command master chief Tom Chergy, and his entourage, a fellow chief petty officers. we bonded over that summer, probably joining the world's greatest fraternity.
