With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sylvester Burton of Jacksonville, Florida, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 3, 2025 at the age of 68. He was predeceased by: his siblings, Wiliam Leon Burton, Jimmy Burton, Rudolph Burton, Robert Davis, Katie Cooper, Inez Jones, Alice Samuel, Margaret Stanford, Bertha Burton Brooks and Hazel Robinson.
He is survived by: his children, George Cooper and Maggie Cooper of Jacksonville Florida; his sister Dorothy Burton (Larry Burton, Sr.) of California; his sister-in-law Vera Burton of Jacksonville; his close friend Lynette Jones; and his grandchildren, Dequan Cooper, De'onshai Cooper, Katie Cooper, Tiahna Cooper, George Cooper, Jr., Destiny Cooper, Gia Cooper (George) and Ezekiel Cooper (Maggie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church (1118 W Beaver St, Jacksonville, FL 32204). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
