He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Lynell Ellis Johnson; his daughters, Lori Hays (Ronny Hays) and Kristen Hubel (Edward "Ed" Hubel); and his grandchildren, Anna Grace Hays, Zachary Hays (Madeline), Garrett Hays (Brooke), Hunter Hays (Hannah), Max Hubel (Lauren) and Samantha Arce (Rueben).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Haven Hospice of Northeast Florida.
