He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Hannafey and Margaret Hannafey; and his siblings, Paul Hannafey, Charles Hannafey, Edward Hannafey, Aloysius Hannafey, Dennis Hannafey and Dolores Hannafey.
He is survived by: his children, Francis T. Hannafey (S. J.), Brian P. Hannafey of Smyrna, GA, Karen Diaz (Eugene) of Acworth, GA and David J. Hannafey (Krista) of Jasper, GA.; his grandchildren, Kylie Caudell (Dillon), James Hannafey (Sarah), Regan Hannafey, Kristina Diaz and Brandon Diaz; and his great grandchild Rose Hannafey.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carmichael Funeral Home - Smyrna (2950 King St SE, Smyrna, GA 30080). A Mass was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (4300 King Springs Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30082).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either The Alzheimer's Association, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
