He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest "Brownie" Brown and Lena Mae Brown (Leslie); his son Wayne Brown; and his sister Jody Brown. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Brown; his children, Jodi Hartmann, Shay Funderburk and Michelle Shepard (Vinny); his sister Bezy Brown; his grandchildren, Amber Gangis (Taylor), Adam Procunier, Vinny Shepard Jr. (Jessica), Mikey Shepard, Rebecca Hartman, Emily, Amanda Hartman and Rhett Brown (Katie); and his great grandchildren, Liam Gangis and Kinsley Gangis.
In honor of Gary's generous spirit, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
