Though Jane may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Copeland Piper and Nancy Marion Piper (Kesler); and her son Joseph Earl Mahoney (Joey) of Albuquerque. She is survived by: her husband Rod Mahoney of Albuquerque; her daughter Megan Mahoney; her siblings, William David Piper and Mary Piper; her nephew Hayden Hull; and her niece Katy Hull.
As a result of her longtime board membership and decades long contribution to the Vecinos del Bosque Neighborhood Association, Jane received an Outstanding Citizens recognition during one of the South Valley Pride Day annual celebrations in the early 2000s. After her children reached middle and high school age, Jane launched a long-time free-lance writing career for the Albuquerque Journal with additional contributions to Su Casa magazine, and other local and regional publications.
