He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Smith Sr. and Georgia Berry Smith; his former wife Janette Howard Smith; his wife Deborah Tyson-Smith; his siblings, Richard "RJ" Smith Jr., Katherine Smith, Leah Smith-McFadden, Ruby Fields and Hattie B. Smith-Lee; his son Leonard B. Smith; and his niece Lynette E. Smith.
He is survived by: his daughter Janice Smith Helm (Darryl) of Apopka, Florida; his grandchildren, William Smith (Cherie) of Fruitland Park, Samantha Mikell of Leesburg, James Smith of Cherry Lake and Ronnie Thomas III (Lashaunta) of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his great grandchildren, Shayanna, Ki'era, Jayden, Heaven, Ka'vyne, Trishanda, Brianna, Wilandria, William Jr., Christian, Braylon, Nevaeh and Nayana. He is also survived by six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
